Wow。。。the angst is real。 Nino grew up with Momo next door。 Whenever her parents would fight, she would throw open her window and sing with Momo。 But one day Momo moves away after telling her to keep singing and that he'd recognize her voice。 So she does and that's how she meets Yuzu only to have him disappear too。 So now she sings for both of them。 Sure enough, Nino and Yuzu end up going to the same school, and her singing draws him to her。 While helping his pop music club out by being a lead si Wow。。。the angst is real。 Nino grew up with Momo next door。 Whenever her parents would fight, she would throw open her window and sing with Momo。 But one day Momo moves away after telling her to keep singing and that he'd recognize her voice。 So she does and that's how she meets Yuzu only to have him disappear too。 So now she sings for both of them。 Sure enough, Nino and Yuzu end up going to the same school, and her singing draws him to her。 While helping his pop music club out by being a lead singer, Nino swears she hears Momo call her name。 Now she's looking for him too, much to Yuzu's annoyance。 。。。more

Kind of cheesy, kind of sweet。 I'll have to check how long the series is to see if I'm willing to give it a go。。。 Kind of cheesy, kind of sweet。 I'll have to check how long the series is to see if I'm willing to give it a go。。。 。。。more

This first volume invoked a yearning in me。 Having moved internationally twice as a child and once as an adult, Nino's longing feels like my own。 Now I have to know where the story takes her。 This first volume invoked a yearning in me。 Having moved internationally twice as a child and once as an adult, Nino's longing feels like my own。 Now I have to know where the story takes her。 。。。more

1。5 stars i didn't hate it, but the characters so far don't seem to have any other existence besides their love for music。 it leaves the story as very flat and shallow。 1。5 stars i didn't hate it, but the characters so far don't seem to have any other existence besides their love for music。 it leaves the story as very flat and shallow。 。。。more

Oh my god, this was super boring。 Like, I hate to be mean, but there wasn’t really anything I liked about this manga。 The art was whatever。 The story itself was meant to be dramatic and angsty and the execution of those moments were cheesy to the point where I couldn’t take it seriously。 That first half with the characters as little kids combined with the weird habit the protagonist had with randomly screaming/singing out of nowhere was honestly kind of off-putting。 Everyone around her was alway Oh my god, this was super boring。 Like, I hate to be mean, but there wasn’t really anything I liked about this manga。 The art was whatever。 The story itself was meant to be dramatic and angsty and the execution of those moments were cheesy to the point where I couldn’t take it seriously。 That first half with the characters as little kids combined with the weird habit the protagonist had with randomly screaming/singing out of nowhere was honestly kind of off-putting。 Everyone around her was always in awe of her ‘amazing’ voice and I would have been like why the hell is this girl bursting into song in the middle of the schoolyard (or wherever) if I’d been in the book。 Also, the plot was confusing。 I didn’t know what was going on or who was who and I just didn’t care enough to try to figure it all out。 。。。more

So。。。 at first I was excited to read this because I loved the idea of music, light romance, and great art。 Unfortunately the story took so long to catch my interest。 Each part of this manga I wanted the story to really suck me into the world but instead I didn’t really feel connected to the story。 Apologies to those who love this manga。。。 but this ones not for me。

2。5/5 starsHmmm。。。。 I watched the first 2 episodes of the anime before reading this and if I'm being completely honest, it seems to me like the anime was able to pace the story better than the manga。 For some reason, the pacing of this manga is throwing me off a bit。 Irregardless, most people seem to say that it does get better as the story progresses so I'm planning on still giving the other volumes a try first before completely deciding if I will drop this or not。 2。5/5 starsHmmm。。。。 I watched the first 2 episodes of the anime before reading this and if I'm being completely honest, it seems to me like the anime was able to pace the story better than the manga。 For some reason, the pacing of this manga is throwing me off a bit。 Irregardless, most people seem to say that it does get better as the story progresses so I'm planning on still giving the other volumes a try first before completely deciding if I will drop this or not。 。。。more

Had promise, but failed with its execution。 If you are potentially interested in this manga, please don’t read the summary。 That has the worst spoilers for not only this book but I suspect the next too。 As a musician, I was intrigued at the whole ideas surrounding the main character who was a singer。 But after reading this, I can just say that it was poorly done。 I do not like the main character and her choices made were strange。 She generally was immature and irresponsible, but she was created Had promise, but failed with its execution。 If you are potentially interested in this manga, please don’t read the summary。 That has the worst spoilers for not only this book but I suspect the next too。 As a musician, I was intrigued at the whole ideas surrounding the main character who was a singer。 But after reading this, I can just say that it was poorly done。 I do not like the main character and her choices made were strange。 She generally was immature and irresponsible, but she was created in such a way that you could tell the author wasn’t around teenagers often。 What added to the overall mess was the art style。 The art is done in such a way that one of the male leads looks really strange from profile angle。 It is not my favorite style for many reasons, one big one being the way the author dealt with the ridiculously huge eye size。 The story was so bad。 I don’t get why the main character likes singing especially after what happened。 Generally the story was just poorly done。 The characters are the driving force - which is fine if they are interesting and likable。 (They weren’t。)Don’t get me started on the musical aspect。 It was horrid。 Please, if you are writing about a topic you don’t know much about, research it a ton! 。。。more

Okay, I'll admit that this series almost lost me in the end and the repetitiveness almost drove me bonkers, but I'm so glad I persevered。 It wasn't until the last book that I realized that, like the characters in the book, I didn't quite understand what was important -- what was really going on。 I think it made the author even greater to put this series together like this。I wasn't super happy with the romance, BUT I get it and it made the conclusion great。 Friendship! I guess I didn't get it。 I found the story to be annoying, the characters distant and not really likable, and the plot extremely hard to follow。 For all those pages, not a lot happened, and I didn't care about what did happen。 A note: I have respect for anyone who creates in any form。 Books take lots of time, dedication, and patience to complete。 Graphic books have the added element of illustrations with fine details that take even more time。 I mean no disrespect to the author of this work (or a I guess I didn't get it。 I found the story to be annoying, the characters distant and not really likable, and the plot extremely hard to follow。 For all those pages, not a lot happened, and I didn't care about what did happen。 A note: I have respect for anyone who creates in any form。 Books take lots of time, dedication, and patience to complete。 Graphic books have the added element of illustrations with fine details that take even more time。 I mean no disrespect to the author of this work (or any other work I pan)。 I just didn't connect with the book。 。。。more

I really loved the art style of this manga。 It was very fun and complimented the story。 I gave it a 4。5 rating because I felt the character introductions were very lengthy。 I get that Ryoko Fukuyama was trying to capture the strong bonds that Nino made with these two boys in her childhood, but I would have liked to see a little more of high school Nino near the middle of the book or even gotten the flashbacks in pockets here and there。Full review on my blog: https://ardinpatterson。wordpress。com/ I really loved the art style of this manga。 It was very fun and complimented the story。 I gave it a 4。5 rating because I felt the character introductions were very lengthy。 I get that Ryoko Fukuyama was trying to capture the strong bonds that Nino made with these two boys in her childhood, but I would have liked to see a little more of high school Nino near the middle of the book or even gotten the flashbacks in pockets here and there。Full review on my blog: https://ardinpatterson。wordpress。com/。。。 。。。more

I'll be honest, this manga volume gives me similar love to the anime (which is a good thing)。 In addition, I feel that this is a fantastic companion to it in the sense of you get to see more of the internal struggle between all of the characters not just the main character。 Overall though, I'm excited to continue on in the story to see how it ends。 Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars。 I would recommend both the anime and the manga。 I'll be honest, this manga volume gives me similar love to the anime (which is a good thing)。 In addition, I feel that this is a fantastic companion to it in the sense of you get to see more of the internal struggle between all of the characters not just the main character。 Overall though, I'm excited to continue on in the story to see how it ends。 Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars。 I would recommend both the anime and the manga。 。。。more

I bought this purely because I loved Nosatsu Junkie, which is also by Rokyo Fukuyama。I can't say I love it, but it is a relatively engaging read。 Honestly it reminds me a lot of Chihayafuru (with a touch of Nana but geared towards a younger crowd) because the essential synopsis and the love triangle dynamic is almost identical。 Three childhood friends (well, one girl was friends with both boys anyway) united by their love of kaurta music they are then separated, but swear that music will bring t I bought this purely because I loved Nosatsu Junkie, which is also by Rokyo Fukuyama。I can't say I love it, but it is a relatively engaging read。 Honestly it reminds me a lot of Chihayafuru (with a touch of Nana but geared towards a younger crowd) because the essential synopsis and the love triangle dynamic is almost identical。 Three childhood friends (well, one girl was friends with both boys anyway) united by their love of kaurta music they are then separated, but swear that music will bring them together again one day。 Timeskip to when their paths all cross again, lol。I usually don't keep track of when I read manga because I don't like for individual volumes to count towards my reading challenge。 However, I've read about half the series, so that might be comparable to a contemporary YA novel。 I would like to finish the series, but I don't have the cash to dump on like 9 volumes of manga I'm not passionate about + I don't have other means to read the rest of it at this time。 。。。more

I may be a bit biased because this manga helped me through an art block (strangely enough), but I liked it a lot! (Keep in mind most of what I say is my opinion, you may not like it) The story is pretty interesting to me, and although it does take some time to get to the main story in volume 1, the pacing is good and hasn’t felt awkward so far。 I also like how the story revolves around music, and especially as a fan of J-pop/J-rock, it’s part of the reason I like it。 (Side note, the music from i I may be a bit biased because this manga helped me through an art block (strangely enough), but I liked it a lot!
