WARNING: I have read through volume 8 and I don't remember exactly which plot points are hit in which books， so the spoilers in this review might be spoilers for any of volumes 1-8 -- read at your own risk！Extremely dramatic & trope-ridden shoujo band manga， which is to say absolutely my thing and I devoured it rapidly。 There's a girl who loves to sing and misses her childhood friend， there's （view spoiler）[her new childhood friend who comforted her after the first childhood friend moved away on WARNING: I have read through volume 8 and I don't remember exactly which plot points are hit in which books， so the spoilers in this review might be spoilers for any of volumes 1-8 -- read at your own risk！Extremely dramatic & trope-ridden shoujo band manga， which is to say absolutely my thing and I devoured it rapidly。 There's a girl who loves to sing and misses her childhood friend， there's （view spoiler）[her new childhood friend who comforted her after the first childhood friend moved away only to mysteriously vanished， and then there's high school and bittersweet reunions and lots of singing/screaming as a way to get out overwhelming emotions。 （hide spoiler）]It is really fun but it is not really good -- adequately good & really enjoyable， that's why the 4 stars， but it doesn't have enough weight to be more than the sum of its parts -- I think because the music parts aren't actually intrinsic， you could replace it with any sort of creative expression or even any kind of sport， I think， I have basically the same story -- （view spoiler）[the girl who has raw talent but no skill， the boy who has lost his ability to perform through injury but performs vicariously through the girl and is also very emotionally attached to her， the mom who doesn't want to let the kid perform & so forth。 （hide spoiler）] The characters are good but it doesn't feel like the situations grow organically out of these people， and that's fine， not every manga can be Fruits Basket， Vol。 1 or Nana， Vol。 1 -- but I think that's why I keep stalling out on it rather than finishing the entire series in a gulp。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 rev。 for vol 1-18 If your a fan of music and romantic， high school coming of age manga check it out。 It has a nice pace。 The characters are really introverted， so it takes some time to get to know them。 So maybe the love triangle will get on your nerves and yeah， as you would expect it stretches about the whole series。 But it will be resolved and I found the ending kind of refreshing。

So。。。 at first I was excited to read this because I loved the idea of music， light romance， and great art。 Unfortunately the story took so long to catch my interest。 Each part of this manga I wanted the story to really suck me into the world but instead I didn’t really feel connected to the story。 Apologies to those who love this manga。。。 but this ones not for me。

Had promise， but failed with its execution。 If you are potentially interested in this manga， please don’t read the summary。 That has the worst spoilers for not only this book but I suspect the next too。 As a musician， I was intrigued at the whole ideas surrounding the main character who was a singer。 But after reading this， I can just say that it was poorly done。 I do not like the main character and her choices made were strange。 She generally was immature and irresponsible， but she was created Had promise， but failed with its execution。 If you are potentially interested in this manga， please don’t read the summary。 That has the worst spoilers for not only this book but I suspect the next too。 As a musician， I was intrigued at the whole ideas surrounding the main character who was a singer。 But after reading this， I can just say that it was poorly done。 I do not like the main character and her choices made were strange。 She generally was immature and irresponsible， but she was created in such a way that you could tell the author wasn’t around teenagers often。 What added to the overall mess was the art style。 The art is done in such a way that one of the male leads looks really strange from profile angle。 It is not my favorite style for many reasons， one big one being the way the author dealt with the ridiculously huge eye size。 The story was so bad。 I don’t get why the main character likes singing especially after what happened。 Generally the story was just poorly done。 The characters are the driving force - which is fine if they are interesting and likable。 （They weren’t。）Don’t get me started on the musical aspect。 It was horrid。 Please， if you are writing about a topic you don’t know much about， research it a ton！ 。。。more

I bought this purely because I loved Nosatsu Junkie， which is also by Rokyo Fukuyama。I can't say I love it， but it is a relatively engaging read。 Honestly it reminds me a lot of Chihayafuru （with a touch of Nana but geared towards a younger crowd） because the essential synopsis and the love triangle dynamic is almost identical。 Three childhood friends （well， one girl was friends with both boys anyway） united by their love of kaurta music they are then separated， but swear that music will bring t I bought this purely because I loved Nosatsu Junkie， which is also by Rokyo Fukuyama。I can't say I love it， but it is a relatively engaging read。 Honestly it reminds me a lot of Chihayafuru （with a touch of Nana but geared towards a younger crowd） because the essential synopsis and the love triangle dynamic is almost identical。 Three childhood friends （well， one girl was friends with both boys anyway） united by their love of kaurta music they are then separated， but swear that music will bring them together again one day。 Timeskip to when their paths all cross again， lol。I usually don't keep track of when I read manga because I don't like for individual volumes to count towards my reading challenge。 However， I've read about half the series， so that might be comparable to a contemporary YA novel。 I would like to finish the series， but I don't have the cash to dump on like 9 volumes of manga I'm not passionate about + I don't have other means to read the rest of it at this time。 。。。more
